Elias Rodarte Obituary

Elias “Les” Rodarte, 85 of Greeley passed away July 19, 2017 at Centennial Health Care. He was born April 13, 1932 in Taylor, Texas to Jesus and Pilar (Cervantes) Rodarte. In the 1940’s Les moved to Colorado. He joined the US Marine Corps, serving in Korea and earning a Purple Heart, being honorably discharged after service. After the service he went to welding school in San Diego and worked on the shipyards before coming back to Colorado. He did decorative iron work in Fort Collins, worked at Farmhand in Greeley and later for Monfort Fabrication before retiring. On October 4, 1973 he married June Kay Smith in Cheyenne, WY. Les loved working, taking drives in the car with June and simply watching people. They traveled from coast to coast, enjoying each others company. He most enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the NRA and loved his guns. Survivors include his children; Sandra (Edward) Dolan of Greeley, Leanne (Roy) Hicks of Evans, Becky Rodarte (John Pilger) of Greeley and Kathryn (Allen) Brown of Corner, SC; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a brother, Richard (Vicky) Rodarte of Greeley. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Nancy Villanueva and brother Philip. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, July 25 followed by service at 10 a.m. at the Adamson Chapel. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens. Reception will follow in the Adamson Reception Center. Memorial gifts may be made to the Jesus Rodarte Center in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
