Lillian G. Tellez, 102, of Greeley passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on June 10, 1914 in a little pueblo in Buyeros, NM. The family located to Greeley in 1918 to work the fields with the Great Western sugar beet campaigns. Lillian met Anastacio Tellez and they were married at St. Peter Catholic Church in September 1933 and he passed away in 1963. Through hard work and perseverance, she successfully raised their 12 children. She later worked for Hungenberg Brothers Kuner canning factory for about 10 years during the harvest season. Lillian was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed bingo, gambling in Las Vegas and being with her family. Her 100th birthday was celebrated with a large gathering and dancing with Lillian. Survivors include her children; Edward (Cynthia) Tellez, Lucille “Sandy” (Louis) Suniga, Susie (C.G.) Grimm, Harry and Linda Marie Tellez, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren; and her brother, William Garcia. She was preceded in death by her husband and children; Dolores, Magdalena, Daniel, Jerry, Larry, George and Gary Lewis Tellez. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2017 followed by the Life Celebration Mass at 10:30 a.m.at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Interment Linn Grove Cemetery with a reception to follow.
