Robert H. Drennan

Robert Drennan, 90, of Loveland, CO, formerly of Greeley, CO passed away October 18, 2017 in Loveland. Bob was born February 20, 1927 in Council Bluffs, IA to Vern and Ruth Drennan. He was raised in Council Bluffs and later moved to Colorado with his new bride, Phyllis Wichman. They subsequently lived in Wyoming, Illinois, Iowa and Missouri and finally moved back to Colorado. He pursued educational goals for 28 years; earning a PhD, from the University of Iowa in 1973; MBA from University of Colorado in 1969 and BSBA from University in Denver in 1960. Bob served in the US Marine Corps in 1944. Bob’s career included twenty years at Gates Rubber Company, Denver, CO where he was an Industrial Engineering supervisor and Economic Engineering manager, Administrative Services manager in the Galesburg, IL plant; Forward Planning Specialist and Corporate Long Range Planning Director in Denver. The next twenty five years were spent in the Health and Hospital Services. Beginning as the Executive Director for Hoover Health Council of Iowa, Inc. in Cedar Rapids, IA;’73 Associate Administrator for Medical Affairs at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley;’74 Executive Director for Centennial Area Health Education Center in Greeley;’78 Health Services Administrator for Department of Corrections, State of Missouri, Jefferson City, MO;’82, Administrative Consultant to the CEO, University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics, Columbia, MO.’84. Registered marketing Representative of Variable Annuity Life Insurance Co;’86, second stint as Health Services Administrator Department of Corrections, State of MO;’87 He was a Charter member and President of Knox County Illinois United Fund; Carver Community Center, Board of Directors, Galesburg, IL and Arapahoe County School District #6 Citizens Budget committee, Littleton, CO. Bob also volunteered for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Archives and History Project at NCMC and Friends of UNC Libraries, all in Greeley. Bob established the first Emergency Medical Services Dispatch System in Cedar Rapids, IA. The University of Colorado Health Sciences Center recognized his outstanding work to serve the health professionals and improve health care of the people of rural Colorado. He is survived by his son, Charles Drennan of Arvada, CO; daughter, Candace (Scott) Owen of Loveland; grandchildren, Kyle of Austin, TX, Ashley and Melissa of Loveland; niece, Sarah Rasras and her daughter Ruth of Nashville, TN. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis; his parents; and sister and brother-in-law, Doris and (B. J.) Norton. A Life Celebration Service will be held at 11:00a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Adamson Chapel.
