Walter Fisher

Walter L. Fisher of Evans passed away May 10, 2017, at the age of 92. Walt was born to Barton and Florence Alice (Crayne) Fisher on May 19, 1924, in Boulder, CO. He attended school there, graduating in 1942 at the age of 18. Before his 19th birthday, Walt was inducted into the Army Air Corps. He served as a pilot during World War II, flying B-17 and B-24 airplanes. He was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant when the war ended in 1945. Walt married Beulah Mae (Nicki) Nicholson in Dyersburg, TN, during his military service. Four children were born, Ronald, Connie, Vicky and Richard. Walt married Emma L. Burgess on May 29, 1982; they were married 34 years. He worked for Flat Iron Paving for 33 years, retiring in 1986. He was an ordained minister, musician, and thrived on building and flying experimental airplanes. God, Emma, his children and grandchildren, friends, and flying were his life. Survivors are his wife Emma L. Fisher of Evans, daughters Connie Fisher of Filer, ID, and Vicky Lambert and husband Carlon of Port Charlotte, FL, sons Ronald Fisher and wife Nina of Milliken, and Richard Fisher of Diamond, MO, stepchildren Roger Burgess and wife Connie, and Ranae Koons and husband Paul all of Greeley, Sharon Huffman of Montrose, CO, and brother in law Richard McGill of Tucson, AZ. Walt’s life included nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, and 10 step great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Florence McGill, Virda (Babe) Eldred, Fritz Eldred and step grandson Benjamin Burgess
