Michael Edmond Nettik
Michael Edmond Nettik went into eternal rest January 18, 2020 surrounded by his family and friends. Being an avid hunter his entire life, his last shot rang true on Monday, December 30th at the age of 80 years old and 9 months. The approximate 1,000 yard plus shot downed the elk immediately with a perfect shot. Mickey, as he was nicknamed was born on April 10, 1939 in Dillon, Montana to Verna and Edward Nettik. He spent his childhood and youth in Dillon. He was a great athlete and participated in basketball and track, graduating from Beaverhead County High School in 1958. He met the love of his life, Phyllis (Penny) Redfield on a blind date in the summer of 1958. They were married on May 9, 1959 at The Church of The Valley in Twin Bridges. They lived in Dillon until 1966. That summer, they moved to the homestead ranch of Penny’s parents south of Twin Bridges. Mickey began working at Tri State Mineral Company (Pfizer) after graduating high school and remained there until 1979. Due to medical complications from the talc plant, Mickey retired. He worked at the Ruby Valley Hardware Store in the early 1980’s until it closed in the mid 1990’s. He moved to Piedmont, South Dakota in 1998 and worked seasonally for the Rapid City Parks Department until 2003. In 2009, Mickey moved to Milliken, Colorado and lived with his son Dean and family until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Verna Nettik, his wife, Phyllis (Penny Nettik) and sister Verona. Mickey is survived by his sons Steve (Syd), Keith (Desda), Dean (Audrey) and his daughter Phyllis (David). He has 7 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, one great grandson, brother Ernie (MaryEllen) and brother in law George Eby. He also left behind a faithful and very spoiled dog named Buffy. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20th at 11:00am at the Mountain View Chapel in Twin Bridges. A luncheon will follow at the Madison County Fairgrounds. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain View Chapel.Obituary
