Genevieve Irene Frey (Oglevie) Genevieve passed peacefully in her sleep on June 28, 2018, two weeks after her 89th birthday. She was preceded by her husband Marvin Ernest Frey, sister Virginia Noel , and brothers Gene and Robert. She is survived by her sister Norma Harrington (Milton): children Richard (June), David (Karen), and Patricia Bechtold (Don); grandchildren Sherri (Michael), Jeffrey (Laura), Scott (Sasha), Angela Huff (Zack), Mark, John (Reanna), and Katherine Matsuda (Kyle); and great grandchildren, Makayla Redwing (Nathan), Marissa Turner (Dylan), Gavin, Evelynn, Kira, and Alex; in-laws Donna England (Donald) and Darlene Oglevie; step grandchildren Pennington Neuhaus, Bradford Shiroma, Iris Shiroma, and Brianne Nakamaura; step great grandchildren Abby Gilbert and Nick Gilbert; as well as many nephews and nieces. Genevieve was born June 14, 1929 in Superior Nebraska to Everett Leroy Oglevie and Ida Mae Oglevie (Thornton). Her mother Ida died in 1940 when Genevieve was 10 years old. Genevieve was left to care for her younger brother Robert when her father joined the Navy during World War 2. She attended Superior High School and played trombone in the school band. Genevieve married Marvin on September 30, 1944 in Belleville, Kansas. After the conclusion of World War 2, they moved to Denver Colorado with their infant son Richard and all their possessions in a 1929 Model A Ford. Genevieve worked nights as a piecework seamstress at Samsonite, while Marvin worked day shift. Later she worked at Hested’s Department Store as a self-taught accountant handling the store’s cash flow and payroll. She finished her professional career at Monarch Shower Door Company providing building material cost estimates, billing/receipts, and accounting/payroll services. She was a loving mother, and always cared about the welfare of others before herself. Encouraging educational excellence in her children was very important to her (including innumerable flashcards). She was always concerned with her children’s future. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, flowers of all kinds, birds (especially cardinals), holidays with family, and attending church activities. Services will be held Saturday September 15th at 11am at Bear Valley Church, 10001 W. Jewell Ave., Lakewood, CO 80232. Reception to follow.
