Shana Saavedra

Shana Andiani Saavedra passed away Monday, June 17, 2019 after a short battle with Stage 4 Liver Cancer. She is survived by her husband Albert Saavedra and daughter, Andrea Saavedra. She has 2 living brothers in Indonesia. Contributions to the family may be made to Riverside Indonesian Fellowship, 2401 Alcott Street, Denver, Colorado 80211. Pastor Stanley Pouw will disperse any funds directly to the family. The Services will be held on Friday, June 28th in the Chapel of Riverside Baptist Church at 10:30 A.M., followed by a light lunch served in the Family Life Center. Viewing of Shana will be from 9:30 to 10:20 A.M. immediately prior. The actual Burial site for the ashes will be determined at a future date. Shana (aka Sianawati Tedjosunarto) was born in Jakarta, Indonesia April 19, 1961. She graduated from Satya Wacana Christian University with a Bachelor Degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. After Teaching for a few years, she switched careers to work at a Travel and Tourism Agency. Shana was able to travel frequently and visit many countries, which was both work and pleasure for her. Sometime in 1999, Shana immigrated to the United States and eventually got her first permanent job with LSG/Sky Chefs in the Denver Airport. This company provided food and beverage items for several airlines. After being laid off from LSG/Sky Chefs in 2011, Shana worked part time for Wells Fargo as an Operations Clerk in the Auditing Department. She spent even more years working as a House Manager, cooking and cleaning and supervising care for those unable to live independently. Finally, in 2016 Shana was able to return to work at DIA with HSS as an Airport Security Agent. She was employed there, but on Family Medical Leave, at the time of her death. Shana met Albert Saavedra in Colorado shortly after coming to the U.S. and they were married in Las Vegas, NV on April 2, 2002. They are parents to Andrea Saavedra who will be a Senior in High School this August with plans for College in 2020. Riverside Indonesian Fellowship has been Shana’s Church Family since December, 2001 and she will be greatly missed by all of us in the Denver Community.
