Kenneth F. Knapp, 79, of Longmont passed away February 12, 2019 at Broomfield Skilled Nursing. He was born April 4, 1939 in New York, NY to Frederick and Louise (Heffka) Knapp. At the age of 15 he moved with his family to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi for one year. The family then moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. Ken earned a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University and later a Master’s degree in Criminal Science from the University of Tennessee. On December 28, 1965 he married Daniela Wolbart in New Orleans, where they made their home until 1995 at which time they moved to Tennessee. Ken and Daniela moved to Longmont in 2003. Ken spent 25 years as a police officer with the New Orleans Police Department. At his retirement in 1983 he was a Lt. with the Crime Lab. He was a member of the Episcopal Church and a former member of the Masonic Lodge. Ken was an aficionado of horse racing. He enjoyed studying and learning about race horses, using the information to handicap races and making small wagers. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ken is survived by his wife Daniela, four children Douglas Parker, Fred Knapp and wife Heidi, Sonia Knapp and Daniela Knapp and husband Ingomar Findenig; seven grandchildren Kristen, Tristan, and Christian, Tanner and Kiara Knapp and Sam and Stella Findenig. A memorial service will be held 10:00 am Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
