James R. Hernandez age 59 of Bridgeport entered to eternal rest on Thursday June 14, 2018. James was born in Bronx, NY, and was a Bridgeport resident for many years. He was a retired Lt. for the Bridgeport Correctional Center. He also worked for Securitas for 11 years. James was the most caring and fun loving person, he always spread happiness wherever he was. James was married to Maleny Hernandez for 18 years.

He is survived by his parents Andres Hernandez and Vivian Oyola Hernandez, his sisters Delores, Miriam, Jacqueline, his brother Franklin, his children James R. Hernandez Jr., Christina Hernandez, Nyvia Hernandez-Moreno, Joshua Hernandez, Jeylin V. Hernandez, Madeline, Adeline, Maryleny, Maleny, Juanito, Elsileny and grandchildren who loved him dearly along with many other family and friends.

Calling hours will take place on Monday June 18, 2018 from 4 to 7pm in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10am in St. Mary Church, Bridgeport followed by interment in Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
