Apolonia (Franas) Rybczak, age 87, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of 59 years to the late Jacob Rybczak, died peacefully on Sunday, June 5, 2011. Born in Czestochowa, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Jozef and Anna Franas. Often speaking of the difficult years during World War II, she married her devoted husband, Jacob in Acringto, England, and eventually immigrated to the United States on May 14, 1951 in search of a better life for their family. Apolonia was completely devoted to her family, being the loving mother, she was an incredible cook and home maker the holiday celebrations at her home were always a special treat. An avid gardener, many family and friends admired her beautiful flower gardens. Survivors include her devoted children and supportive spouses, John Rybczak and his wife, Margaret of Milford, Donna Sobel and her husband, Paul of Monroe, Christine Maxfield and her husband, Paul of Niantic; her treasured grandchildren, Daniel, Kimberly, Kenneth, Stephen and Samuel; great-grandson, Christopher; several nieces and nephews. A special note of deep appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Germano Guadagnoli and to all who assisted in the gentle care of our mom over the years. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church followed by Burial in Lakeview Cemetery. Calling hours will take place on Thursday morning after 9:30 a.m. in the Frank M. Radozycki Funeral Home, 305 Pulaski Street, Bridgeport (Directly across from St. Michael's Church.) If so desired donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society in loving memory of Apolonia.
