Szalkiewicz, Theodore “Ted” W., 67, of Bristol, husband of Eileen (Kaczka) Szalkiewicz, passed away Tuesday March 6, 2012 at home. Born Nov. 8, 1944 in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Teodor and Sophie (Adamczyk) Szalkiewicz. Ted graduated from St. Stanislaus School and Bristol Central High School. He also attended the Porter School of Design. He worked for New Departure-Hyatt, a division of General Motors, in Bristol for five years. He was then hired by the Bristol Fire Dept and served 37 years with the Dept. before retiring in 2005. Ted was a member of the Bristol Fish and Game Club since 1972 and a member of the Bristol Polish American Citizen’s Club since 1963. He was also a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. He had a love of hunting, fishing, travel and animals. He especially loved the White Mountains of New Hampshire and spent much time in North Conway with his family. Besides his wife, Eileen, of thirty years, Ted leaves two daughters Susan Szalkiewicz of Bristol and Teri Stanton of Jacksonville, FL; his sister Valerie Grzybowski of Wolcott, CT; two granddaughters Shannon and Samantha Reihl and several nephews and cousins. Services for Theodore are private and will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
