Albert Burnell Obituary

Albert Thomas Burnell was born on November 3, 1947 in Hartford, CT and passed from this life to eternal rest on December 5, 2010. He was employed for many years as a warehouse clerk at the A & P and Finest warehouses. Albert dedicated his free time to coaching The Enfield Stars Special Olympics athletes in soccer, softball, basketball and bowling. He was extremely proud of being named the CT Special Olympics Head Coach for softball in 1999 that went to North Carolina where they won the Gold Medal. He also coached the CT softball team that went to the first ever National Games in Ames, Iowa. Albert is survived by his mother Edna (LeMere) Burnell his wife, Linda (Argenta) Burnell, and his two sons Mark and Matthew Burnell along with the greatest joy and light of his life, his granddaughter Aleena. He also is survived by four brothers Dennis & his wife Marilyn, Ted & his wife Deb, Danny & Anne and Donnie, his aunts, uncles, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his father Charles Burnell, step father Harold Whynot and his brother Ernie. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday (December 9, 2010) from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield followed by a Memorial Service with Fr. John Melnick officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Allied’s Enfield Stars 3 Pearson Way Enfield, CT 06082.
