Albert Ouellette

Albert A. Ouellette 94, of Enfield entered into eternal life on Sat. April 7, 2007 at Bayview Healthcare, Waterford, CT. Albert was the beloved husband of 63 years to the late Doris P. (Paradise) Ouellette (9/13/05). He was born on Dec.12, 1912 in Chicopee, MA son of the late Peter and Eudosie (Dupont) Ouellette. Albert was a graduate of Chicopee High School then furthered his education at Chicopee Tech. for 2 years. He served his country honorably with the US Army. After attending officer candidate school at MIT he was activated in Dec. 1941 and eventually rose to the level of Lt. Colonel. He was shot and captured by the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge in Dec. 1944. As a prisoner he was moved closer to Berlin where he was abandoned by the Germans and moved to a detention camp in the Crimea by the Russians. He was returned to the US in June 1945. Albert was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star and was discharged in April 1946.<br>Prior to his retirement Albert was a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service from 1959 to 1978 and before that he was employed by Spaulding Sporting Goods, Chicopee, MA from 1945 to 1959. Albert loved to fish and was a member of the Narragansett Saltwater Fishing Club.<br>He is survived by his loving family, a son, Albert Ouellette & his wife, Marylou of Niantic, a daughter, Susan Crank & her husband, Thomas of Enfield, a son, Thomas Ouellette & his wife, Marion of Enfield, six beloved grandchildren, Jessica and Rebecca Crank, Kara Willette, Michele Bigda, Tami Kellam and Michael Ouellette, seven great-grandchildren, Alexander & Abagail Willette, Nicole, Andrew & Anthony Bigda, Shaun & Daniel Kellam. He also leaves a sister, Doris Corsi of Nova Scotia, along with many nieces and nephews. <br>Funeral services in celebration of Albert's life will be held on Friday Apr. 13, 2007 at 9am from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Holy Family Church, Enfield. Interment with Military Honors will take place in St. Patrick's King St. Cemetery, Enfield. His family will receive relatives and friends on Thurs. April 12, from 5 to 8pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to Holy Family Church 23 Simon Rd. Enfield, CT 06082 or a charity of the donor's choice.
