Alfred Higgins

Alfred W. Higgins, 93, of Enfield, entered into eternal life, Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center, Springfield, MA. He was bon in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, November 16, 1915, the son of the late William and Angelina A. (Bushey) Higgins and was a lifelong resident of Enfield. Alfred was employed with Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. and then Pratt Whitney Aircraft, retiring in 1962. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, cryptograms and walks at the Enfield Square. Alfred is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William and Jane Higgins of Enfield; his grandchildren, William Higgins, Jr. and wife Kathy, Mary King and husband Peter, Thomas Higgins and wife Julie and Cathleen Higgins all of Enfield. He also leaves six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Alfred was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years, Catherine M. (Rec) Higgins in 2005. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Francis and Patrick Higgins and his sisters, Rita Morrison, Blanche Curtis and June Swols. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 1, at 1 pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd., Enfield. Calling hours will be from 11:30 am to 1 pm prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Patrick King St. Cemetery. Memorial Donations in Alfred's memory may be made to the Enfield Community Ambulance Fund, P. O. Box 1249 Enfield, CT 06083-1249.
