Alton "Tex" Sanders

Alton “Tex” Sanders, 71, of Enfield, died quietly and peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Born in Dallas, Texas on August 1, 1940, he was the son of the late Chester and Ethel (McMahan) Sanders. Tex had been a resident of Enfield for forty-three years and previously resided in Whitney, Texas. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for thirty-seven years and retired in 1999. Tex proudly served his country with the US Navy aboard the nuclear submarine USS John Marshall and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association and the Born Free Leapin’ Lions RV Club. Tex enjoyed an active retirement traveling in his motorhome, was an avid gardener and loved playing with his grandchildren. Tex is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Bonnie (Kleaka) Sanders; his children and their spouses, Darrell and Marie Sanders of Orlando, FL, Deborah and Leonard Carlucci of Lincoln Park, NJ, Duane and Toni Sanders of Enfield, CT and Deana and Geoff Chadwick of Oxford, CT; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Lauren, Leo, Savannah, Soila and Grey; his sisters, Martha Ann and David Booth, Linda and Don Howard, and Vicki and Jeff Satterwhite, of Texas; his brothers, Dean Sanders and Gene and Rene Sanders also of Texas; and his mother-in-law, Nellie Kleaka of Enfield, CT. He was predeceased by his twin sister, Myra Booth. Family and friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Mass in celebration of his life on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road, Enfield, CT 06082. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale-New Haven Hospital, P.O. Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508.
