Anthony Renna

Anthony “Tony”, P. Renna, 94, husband of the late Rita A. Renna of Enfield, departed this life on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Tony was born on June 29, 1919 in Thompsonville the son of the late Carmon and Maria (Guida) Renna. He graduated from Enfield High School class of 1937 and then went on to work as a Chevrolet car salesman. He married his “rolling skating partner” Rita, September 13, 1942 then enlisted the next month in the United States Army and was assigned to the 5th Armored Division in the European Theatre. Tony participated in the Northern France; Rhineland; Central Europe and Ardennes (Battle of The Bulge) campaigns. Upon his honorable discharge in November of 1945 as a Master Sargent, Tony remained in Europe working as a as a civil servant whose responsibilities included the management of war time materials at the newly created Wels Ordnance Arsenal in Austria. In June of 1946 Tony returned to the United States and continued his carer as a car salesman until his retirement in 1982. He won many salesman’s awards during his career, he treated his customers fairly and with respect and took great pride in his job. Tony was a member of St. Bernard Church; a member of the Rinaldi-Fede Post # 17 in Enfield and also a lifelong member of the Amvets. Tony enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing an occasional round of golf. He was a fan UCONN Womens Basketball and the New England Patriots. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his son Tony and his wife Jo-Anne, grandson Jamie; granddaughter Melissa and great grandchildren Alexandria; Matthew and Kylie Renna all of Enfield. He was predeceased by his brothers Joseph, Charles, Alfonso, Patsy Renna and sister Antoinette Resta. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank the staff at Parkway Pavilion Healthcare for the wonderful care and support they provided. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Friday (Jan. 10, 2014) from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Bernard Church 426 Hazard Ave. Enfield, Interment with military honors will then take place in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
