Arnold F. Soderman, 80 of Middletown, CT and formerly of Agawam, MA entered into eternal peace May 20, 2006. Arnold was the beloved husband of 56 years to the late Mary (Gaj) Soderman. He was born Aug. 20, 1925 in Springfield, MA, son of the late Joel and Emma (Fiedler) Soderman, he had resided in Agawam, MA for over 50 years and Daytona, FL. Arnold served his country honorably with the US Naval Construction Force known as the Sea Bees during WW II in the Pacific, including the island of Iwo Jima. Prior to his retirement many years ago Arnold was employed by Western Massachusetts Electric Company for many years. Arnold was very dedicated to his family and in his leisure time he enjoyed visiting with friends, fishing and hiking.
Arnold is survived by his beloved family, a son and daughter-in-law; Richard & Aprille Soderman of Cromwell, CT, three grandchildren; Eric Soderman, Christopher Soderman and Noreen Sands Bousquet and two great grandchildren; Nicholas and Kyle Bousquet. Besides his parents and wife Arnold was predeceased by a daughter; Diana Sands, a granddaughter; Melanie Sands and a brother; Harold Soderman.
A Memorial Mass in celebration of Arnold's life will be held on Thursday June 8, 2006 at 9:30am in Sacred Heart Church 446 Mountain Rd. Suffield, CT followed by interment with military honors in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery Agawam, MA. His family will receive friends on Wednesday June 7, 2006 from 4 to 7pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT.
