Bertha Morse

Bertha I. (Fitts) Morse of Chicopee, MA entered peacefully into eternal rest at the age of 91 on Tuesday (Aug. 3, 2010) at the East Longmeadow Nursing Center. She was the widow of Raymond Chipman Morse and daughter of the late Everett and Clara A. (Bruce) Fitts. Bertha was born on August 9, 1918 in Charlton, MA and had resided in Chicopee, MA for 28 years and most recently in Enfield, CT. She volunteered and was an active member of the Chicopee Senior Center. Bertha was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother she dedicated her life to raising her family and caring for her home. Bertha’s true joy in life came from time spent with family and friends. She is survived by her two daughters; Nancy Moranian of Chicopee, MA and Pamela King of Enfield, CT, her son Edward Morse of Brattleboro, VT, five beloved grandchildren and two great grandchildren, her two brothers Stanley Fitts of FL and Roland Fitts of MA, along with many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by six siblings. Family and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Friday (Aug. 6, 2010) from 4 to 7 pm followed by a Memorial Service at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT. Interment will be at the convenience of her family in the West Ridge Cemetery Charlton, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to the CT State Disabled Veterans 35 Cold Springs Rd. Ste. 315 Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
