Betty Barnett

Betty P. (DeGray) Barnett, of Enfield, entered into Eternal Rest at the age of 83, on Wednesday December 28, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Ctr., Hartford. She was the wife of the late Samuel “Sam” J. Barnett. Born on November 14, 1933 in the Hazardville section of Enfield to the late Daniel and Idella (Cooley) DeGray. Betty was a live-long resident of Enfield, a graduate of Enfield H.S. and attended Asnuntuck Community College. Prior to retiring she was employed with Hallmark Cards, Inc., Enfield for 27 years. Betty enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center, loved her animals and spending time with family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was also very active in the “TOPS” program. Betty is survived by her four children Joyce Chevalier of Enfield, Patricia Caruthers of Somers, John Barnett of Tolland and Michael Barnett of Enfield, her twelve beloved grandchildren and six cherished great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Daniel DeGray of Enfield, along with two nieces that were very close to her, Sherri and Lori, and several other nieces and nephews. Besides, her husband and parents she was predeceased by a brother John DeGray and two sisters Hazel LaValle and Ruth Desso. Per Betty’s request funeral services will be private at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children 516 Crew St. Springfield, MA 0114-2396 or Connecticut Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, 282 Washington St. Hartford, CT 06106.
