Carmela Agro

Carmela (Maggio) Agro, 92, of Enfield, entered into Eternal Life on Monday Aug. 29, 2016 at The Suffield House. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles P. Agro. Carmela was born on April 22, 1924 in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, daughter of the late Louis and Rose (Mule) Maggio and was lifelong resident of Enfield. Prior to her retiring in 1984 she was employed with the Enfield School System in the cafeteria for 18 years and was known as “Granny”, before that she worked at the former National Print/US Envelope for 18 years and Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. Carmela was a member of St. Patrick Church and St. Joseph’s Auxiliary. She was an avid UCONN Huskies Women’s basketball fan and enjoyed play bingo at Mt. Carmel and Foxwoods Casino, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her loving family. Carmela is survived by her two loving children; Charles P. Agro and Liliann Engleman & husband Michael both of Enfield, her four beloved grandchildren; Michael Engleman & his wife Sheri, Alexandria Agro, Jessica Engleman and Jeffrey Engleman, three adored great-grandchildren; Sophia & Carmela Engleman and Hope Mayers, two siblings; Fran Gentilcore of Seattle, WA and Mary Langone of East Windsor, CT, two sisters-in-law; Lucille Agro and Germaine Agro both of Enfield, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband she was also predeceased by three brothers; Frank, Charles and Ralph Maggio. Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Friday Sept. 2, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral Services will take place on Saturday Sept. 3, 2016 with the procession forming at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral to St. Patrick Church, Enfield for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Enfield Dial-A-Ride, 299 Elm Street, Enfield, CT 06082.
