Charles "Butch" Fede Obituary

Charles “Butch” J. Fede, of Ocala, FL, passed from his earthly journey to eternal rest on Monday April 12, 2011 in the comfort of his home with loved ones at his side. Butch was the beloved husband of Patricia (McGinty) Fede and son of the late Vincenzo and Josephine (Vella) Fede. He was born on Oct. 4, 1946 in Springfield, MA, raised and educated in Enfield and had also resided in Hampden, MA for several years before moving to Ocala, FL 4 years ago. Having served his country honorably with the US Army during the Vietnam War Butch earned the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Service Stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Prior to retiring 9 years ago Butch was employed for 30 years with Super Valu (formerly Sweet Life). He was a member of Parents without Partners, Nor’easters Club and Veterans Club. Butch really enjoyed the Florida Lifestyle. Besides his loving wife of 15 years Pat, he is also survived by his two daughters; Tracy Redden and husband Tim of N. Bennington, VT and Tina Hessler and husband Chris of Bennington, VT, his step daughter; Lynn Stamatopoulos and husband Jim of Bristol, CT, his 7 beloved grandchildren; Zachary, Jason, Aaron, Damien, Daylin, Michael and Athena, his brother; Leo Fede and wife Kathleen of Leesburg, FL along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Friday (April 15, 2011) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd Enfield, CT. Funeral Services will take place on Saturday (April 16) with the procession forming at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home to St. Patrick’s Church for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will take place at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA on Tuesday April 19, 2011 at 9:00 am. Memorial donations in Butch’s memory may be made to the Hospice of Marion County 3231 SW 34th Ave. Ocala, FL 34474 or the Baystate Visiting Nurses Association & Hospice 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199.
