Charles "Charlie" Trapanese Obituary

Charles “Charlie” Joseph Trapanese, died peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday March 10, 2011. He was born in the Thompsonville section of Enfield on August 18, 1916 where he lived for close to 90 years. Charlie was self employed for 63 years as a barber at Bill’s Barbershop in Thompsonville, which he co-operated with his brother Bill before retiring in 1997. Charles was the son of the late Charles and Jennie (Todaro) Trapanese. Charlie was a communicant of St. Patrick’s church in Thompsonville Ct. He enjoyed barbering, gardening, playing cards, and telling jokes to his customers, friends and family, which he was still telling right until the end. Charlie enjoyed spending time at his family cottage in Old Saybrook CT. He loved the beach and the ocean view from the Saybrook coastline. Charlie was a World War II veteran, a Charter member of the Rinaldi Fede Post # 12, a member of the Enfield Detection of Thieves and Robbers Association. He also was Secretary/Treasurer of the Enfield Barber’s Association. Charlie was a generous brother, uncle and friend. He was happiest when he made other laugh and always put his family first. He is survived by his loving sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Rudy Chamberlain of Enfield, CT, which he made his home with after leaving the Thompsonville area. Charlie leaves his two dear adopted children, Genieve White and husband Robert White and children of Vernon, CT and Charles “Chuck” Arnold and wife Mary and children of Richland, PA . He leaves a brother Humbert Trapanese and Sister-in-law Henrietta Trapanese of Enfield, CT, and many special nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by sisters Mary (Trapanese) Arnold and Florence Trapanese, brothers William Trapanese , and Samuel Trapanese and his wife Nancy Trapanese, and Sister-in-law Norma Trapanese. Relatives and friends may gather with his family at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield on Sunday (March 13, 2011) from 2 to 5 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday (March 14, 2011) with the procession forming at 10 am from the funeral home to St. Patrick’s Church for a 11 am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with Military Honors will take place in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery, Enfield. His family will always be grateful to Johnson Medical Staff and the compassionate care given there and the Staff at Evergreen Health Care Rehab Center. We are also grateful to Carter Sutherland for making the last few months easier and more comfortable for Charlie.
