Charles Angelo Liucci, 82, of Enfield, CT and Cresskill, NJ passed away on Saturday April 24, 2010 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on November 21, 1927 in Enfield, CT to the late Luigia (Pepe) and Vincenzo “Jimmy” Liucci. He proudly served his country in the US Navy as an aircraft mechanic and demolitions expert during WW II. He received his undergraduate degree from RCA Institute of Technology in NYC. He went on to attend MIT and received graduate degree from Fairleigh Dickenson University in Physics. He was self employed in the Liucci Electronic Laboratory as an electronic engineer working on government contracts from the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense until his retirement in 2005. He also obtained several patents for pressure transducers utilized in aircrafts and geothermal wells. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Piedad (Herrera) Liucci, his daughter Laura and husband, Patrick Fitzgerald of Springfield, MA, his daughter Nancy and husband, Danny Rodriguez of Dumont, NJ and son James and wife, Jennifer of Summerville, SC. He also leaves his beloved granddaughter Rachel Rodriguez, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Patsy Liucci and sister Eugenia “Jean” Lyver. Calling hours will be Friday April 30, from 6 to 9 pm. and Saturday May 1 from 9-10 am at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Patrick’s Church in Enfield. Burial with military honors will take place in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery in Enfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to promote research in traumatic brain injury prevention for US military personnel to MIT, Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies, 77 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139. The family would also like to thank the staff at Baystate Medical Center, especially the staff on Wesson 4 and the ICU, for the compassionate care that their husband and father received.
