Charles "Maxie" Maxellon

Charles J. “Maxie” Maxellon, 85, of Enfield, went to be reunited with his loving wife of 57 years the late Irene T. (Sypek) Maxellon on Wednesday April 22, 2015. He was born on May 27, 1929 in the Hazardville section of Enfield, CT, the son of the late Charles and Catherine (Robak) Maxellon and was a lifelong resident of Enfield. He served his country proudly with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Maxie worked for 17 years as a weaver at the former Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. in Thompsonville and retired from the Town of Enfield Public Works Dept. after 26 years of service. He had a passion for gardening, enjoyed camping, fishing, passing time at the Enfield Senior Center, he was a UConn Huskies Women’s and Men’s Basketall and Boston Red Sox fan, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Adalbert’s Church. Maxie is survived by his beloved children; Douglas Maxellon & his wife Diane of Enfield and Debra Roessler & her husband David of Somers, his five cherished grandchildren; Michele Vogt & her husband William of FL, Brian Maxellon and Nicole Maxellon both of Enfield, Jessica Roessler and Daniel Roessler both of Somers, and his great-grandchildren Samantha & Aubrey Vogt. He is also survived by a sister Jean Nash of Leominster, MA and a brother Peter Maxellon of Hubbardstone, MA, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins, his sisters-in-law, Frances Maxellon of Enfield, Viola Sliech of Agawam, MA, and Phyllis Rys of W. Springfield, MA, his Godchild, Pricilla Brennan of Leominster, MA. He was predeceased by two brothers Douglas Maxellon and Edward Maxellon and a sister Nellie Gerbutovich. The family would especially like to thank his caregivers Pam and Anna for the exceptional and wonderful care & assistance given to Maxie. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Sunday April 26, 2015 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will take place on Monday April 27, with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Adalbert Church, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery in Enfield. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Enfield Senior Citizen’s Center 299 Elm Street Enfield, CT 06082.
