Charles Monteforte

Charles J. "Monte" Monteforte, 62, of Enfield beloved husband of 32 years to Dianne (Nicol) Monteforte passed from this life, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday Feb. 17, 2008 surrounded by loved ones at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs. He was born on Feb. 23, 1945 a son of Hilda (Kahn) and the late Anthony Monteforte and had resided in Enfield since 1979 and in Manchester before that. He served his country honorably with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Monte was employed by DresserRand for the past 20 years and prior to that with Terry Steam Turbine, Windsor for 15 years. A passion for softball he was a member of the Men's slow pitch softball league and was pitcher for his team. He was also a member of the Lutheran Church of our Redeemer in Enfield. Besides his wife, Dianne he is also survived by a son, Michael "Monte, Jr." Monteforte and his wife, Kari of Enfield, his mother, Hilda Monteforte of CA, two brothers, Robert Monteforte of FL and Richard Monteforte and his wife, Rita of CA, his mother-in-law, Rose Nicol of S. Windsor, a sister-in-law, Sandra Boutin and husband, Leo of TX, a brother-in-law, Charles Nicol, Jr. and his wife, Leda of Glastonbury, a sister-in-law, Mary Dondero of Glastonbury, a sister-in-law, Barbara Alakel and her husband, Dan of Enfield, a sister-in-law, Brenda Richard and her husband, Paul of Enfield, his aunt and God-mother, Dorothy Kahn of NY, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews and cousins.<br>Besides his father, Anthony Monteforte, he was also predeceased by his father-in-law, Charles Nicol. <br>Monte's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday Feb. 21, from 4 to 8pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, followed by a Memorial Service at 8pm with Vicar Ralph "Butch" Lanphar officiating. Interment of his cremains will take place on Saturday Feb. 23, 2008 with military honors in St. Patrick's King St. Cemetery, Enfield at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society 538 Preston Ave. P.O. Box 1004 Meriden, CT 06450-1004 or to the Home and Community Health Services, Hospice Program P.O. Box 1199 Enfield, CT 06083-1199.
