Christine (Sarno) Morgano, passed away peacefully Thursday (March 1, 2012) at Parkway Pavilion Healthcare in Enfield. Christine was a lifelong resident of Thompsonville/Enfield, she was born on July 3, 1917 to the late Vincent and Anna (Alfano) Sarno. Christine was also predeceased by two brothers; Americo and Mario Sarno, one sister; Rossina Sarno and her former husband Stephen Morgano. Christine is survived by her daughters; Marion Roscio of South Windsor, CT, Rosanne Knoepfle and Stephanie Smith both of Enfield, CT, her six beloved grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Christine was known to all her family as Nana. An accomplished seamstress, she designed and made many of her own clothes as well as for her family. She enjoyed playing piano, reading books, traveling, oil painting, dancing, tennis, golf, gardening and took great pride in her home. She was a volunteer AARP. Christine continued her education with courses in Literature, English, Italian and Current Events at Asnuntuck Community College. At the time she graduated at 65, Christine was the oldest member of her graduating class with an Associates Degree. Christine worked for 33 years at Hallmark Cards Inc. Her last position before retiring in 1987 was a Human Resource Representative. For many years she enjoyed taking her great grandchildren to the annual Hallmark children’s Christmas Party. Christine’s family would like to thank the Parkway Pavilion Staff and Vernon VNA Hospice for all their kindness and care shown to Christine and the family At Christine’s request there will be no calling hours or service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
