Claire G. (Girard) Rush, 80, of Enfield, died peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born in Claremont, New Hampshire on January 8, 1934, Claire was the daughter of the late Arthur and Marie (Drapeau) Girard. Claire graduated in 1951 as a Salutatorian from St. Mary’s High School in Claremont. She graduated from the St. Francis School of Nursing in Hartford and became a registered nurse in 1955. Claire was a longtime resident of Enfield, a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Claremont, New Hampshire, a member St. Patrick Church in Enfield, and the St. Francis School of Nursing Alumni. Claire was a dedicated caregiver in the community, providing services to individuals and families in her thirty years with the Enfield Visiting Nurses and Home and Community Health Services. She continued her public service well into her seventies, working flu clinics and providing support to the Enfield Home and Community Health Services as needed. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Marco Island and Hampton Beach. Claire was an enthusiastic sports fan who enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s games whether in a freezing hockey rink, at a basketball court or outside at the soccer and softball fields. She loved the UCONN men’s and women’s basketball teams and of course the Boston Red Sox. Claire will be deeply missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-six years, William J. Rush of Enfield; her sons, Bill Rush of Enfield, John Rush and his wife, Colleen of Somers; four grandchildren, Joey, Justin, Tanner and Erin; her cousins and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels to form a procession to St. Patrick Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Old St. Patrick Cemetery in Thompsonville. Claire’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082.
