David Gaughan Enfield, Connecticut Obituary

David Gaughan

Gaughan, David E., of Ellington, CT, passed away on August 25, 2011. He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Viola Gaughan, of Suffield, CT. Our father has found solace, after a vigilant fight to continue his life, and now finally he will rest in peace. David grew up in Suffield, Ct, graduating from the Suffield Academy and he received his BA in Physics at the University of CT. He proudly served his country with the US Army, Airborne Paratrooper, 82nd Division. He retired in 1994 after a rewarding career as a Chemist at Alstrom (Combustion Engineering) in Windsor, CT. David is survived by his dearly beloved wife of fifty-three years, Mary Carol “babe”, and his five children, three daughters, Keely Tillona, Kimberly Harris and Heather Murdock; his two sons Peter and Edward Gaughan; his son-in-law, John Tillona. He was the best “papa” to his grandchildren; Adam, Luke and Nina Tillona, Jordan “JJ” and Emily Harris, Brooke and Nicholas Murdock and James and Meggan McGann, also a very proud great-grandfather to Sophia, Jack and Cameron. David’s best friend was his Harley Davidson, he passed away still bound by the passion to ride, we bid his fellow riders too numerous to mention a fond fare well, he loved you all! We will remember David, as a caring, loving and generous man whose door (and swimming pool) was always open. He was a true gardener; his green fingers were an extension of his vibrant personality, leaving us a part of him in the creation of his beautiful flower gardens. David always loved the beach, the smell of the salty water, the wind in his face, the gentle roar of the waves created within him a sense of peace and calm. The family will respect David’s last wishes with a Mass of Christian Burial, to be held on Tuesday, August 30th, 2011 at 10:30 am at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 141 Main Street, Ellington, Ct. “SWEET HE ROCKS AND SWEET HE ROLLS”
