Dolores R. (Somma) Metta, 84, of Enfield. God called Dolores home on Friday November 18, 2016 while surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 47 years to the late Michele F. “Chet” Metta. Dolores was born on Feb. 28, 1932 in West Orange, NJ, the daughter of the late Eugene P. and Mildred A. (DeNunzio) Somma. She was a graduate of West Orange H.S. and had resided in Enfield for the past 49 years and in West Orange, NJ before that. Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her pride and joy was her family and her home. Dolores took much pride as a chaperone of the Enfield Sabers Drum & Bugle Corps, where she made many long-lasting friendships and fond memories as well as her job at the Elm Street McDonald’s serving the public. Dolores had a love for cooking especially during the holidays and making her “Holiday Soup” a secret family recipe and her butter cookies. She loved her pets and all animals and especially feeding all the birds and squirrels. She will be greatly missed by all. Dolores is survived by her loving children; Michael S. Metta & his wife Roberta of Stafford Springs, Michele Metta-Kahn & her husband Robert of Enfield, Joseph A. Metta & his wife Laurie of Broad Brook and Theresa J. Tammaro & her husband Neil of Enfield, her five beloved grandchildren; Michael J. Metta, Gina M. Dewey, Sara L. Ortiz, Jordan N. Tammaro and Nicholas J. Tammaro, her adored great-grandchildren Anthony & Vinny Metta, Daleah & David Ortiz and Isabella Dewey and one on the way. She also is survived by a sister Jean Hendrickson of Manasquan, NJ and a brother Eugene A. Somma of Long Branch, NJ along with many nieces, nephews their families, and cousins. Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Tuesday Nov. 22, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wed. Nov. 23 at 10:00 am in St. Patrick Church, Enfield (Please meet at church). Interment will follow in the Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Felician Adult Day Center, 1335 Enfield St. Enfield, CT 06082.
