Dorothy "Dottie" Curtis Obituary

Dorothy “Dottie” A. Curtis, of Windsor Locks, passed from her earthly journey at the age of 84 on Sunday (January 29, 2012) surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond L. Curtis, Jr. in 1987 and a son Robert Curtis. Dorothy was born on Dec. 17, 1927 in East Granby, CT. Dottie resided in East Granby for over 50 years and her later years in Windsor Locks. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother she dedicated her life to caring for her family and home. Dottie was a very active member of the Poquonock Community Church volunteering her time for many of the church functions and events and was also a member of the Windsor Golden Fellowship. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, playing cards, trips to the casinos and traveling with her companion, James. Besides her beloved companion James Doherty of Windsor Locks and his family, Dottie is survived by her loving children; Larry Curtis & his wife, Rosemarie “RB” of East Granby, Sandra Smith & her husband William of Winsted, Cindy Curtis of East Windsor, Jeffrey Curtis of East Windsor, Jerry Curtis & his wife, Linda of Meriden and Kathy Curtis of East Windsor, her many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Thursday (February 2, 2012) from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield and on Friday morning (February 3, 2012) from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Poquonock Community Congregational Church 1817 Poquonock Ave. Windsor, CT with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Poquonock Community Congregational Church 1817 Poquonock Ave. Windsor. Interment will take place in the Elmwood Cemetery in East Granby. Memorial donations in Dottie’s memory may be made to the Windsor Locks Lions Ambulance Corps 401 Spring St., Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
