Eleanor (Brigada) D'Amato, entered into eternal life at the age of 88 on Thursday December 3, 2009 at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, A. Harry D'Amato on May 6, 1999. Born September 20, 1921 in Springfield, MA daughter of the late James F. and Agnes (Casinghino) Brigada, Eleanor attended Enfield Schools, the University of Hartford Hillyer College and Trinity College earning her BS in Political Science. Eleanor was extremely proud of her patriotic contribution during WWII as an Air Spotter, Air Warden, and Red Cross Trainer and Instructor. Eleanor worked for Pratt & Whitney as a secretary and continued her employment with the General Law Committee of Connecticut and the General Assembly as an executive secretary. Eleanor loved her country, firmly believed in volunteering, and giving joyously to others. As a life long resident of Enfield Eleanor was involved in numerous political, civic, and charitable organizations such as: Tanguay-Magill Post 80 American Legion Auxiliary, Human Resources Commission, Friendship House Committee, St. Joseph's Society, Enfield Taxpayer's Association, , Enfield Historical Society, Cub Scout Pack #19, Registrar of Voters , Purple Heart Medal Bi-Centennial Parade and Museum Committee, Building Committees for the Enfield Central Library and Kosciusko Junior High. <br>Eleanor is survived by a son; James P. D'Amato and his wife Guylene of Enfield, a niece Maureen Mayton and her husband Steve, nephews: Christopher Corbin and Paul Young. Her beloved grandchildren: Shawana and Shannon Cook, Father Marc Eames and his wife Gretchen, Daniel and Mathew Eames, and Katie & Kevin Cole. Great- grandchildren: Macayla & Max Cole. Eleanor is also survived by an aunt Evelyn DeCaro of Enfield. Eleanor's family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for all the loving care given by Lucy Bialoskorski, and JMH ICU nurse, Debbie. <br>Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on SUNDAY Dec. 6, 2009 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield followed by a Memorial Service. Interment will be at the convenience of her family in St. Patrick's King St. Cemetery, Enfield.<br>
