Elizabeth “Betty” (O’Neill) McKeown, 83, born on November 26, 1931, in Cahirscuilibeen, Ballydavid, County Kerry, Ireland, entered into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday December 16, 2014. Elizabeth was predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years , John P. McKeown, her parents, Margaret O’Shea and Eugene O’Neill, siblings John O’Neill, Mary Schlichting, Thomas O’Neill, William O’Neill, Eileen (Lil) Hutchinson, Margaret (Peg) Corcoran, Caitlin (Cait) Verner, Norah O’Sullivan, Bridget Grummel, and Michael O’Neil, and her granddaughter, Bridget O’Neill Nicholson. Elizabeth immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island in May 1950. Elizabeth married the love of her life, “Johnny” McKeown in 1953 and resided in Hartford, CT. “Johnny and Betty” moved to Enfield, CT in 1957, where they raised their six children. Elizabeth was a founding member of Saint Martha Roman Catholic Church, Enfield, and the Claddagh Club of Enfield. Elizabeth provided exceptional nursing care as a certified nursing assistant for over 35 years, at the Enfield Nursing Home and Blair Manor. Elizabeth is survived by a brother, Eugene O’Neill, of England, and a sister, Hannah Connors, of Enfield, CT, her six loving children and spouses, Sean and Cindy McKeown, of Barrington, IL, John and Maureen Tiroletto, of Enfield with whom she made her home, Brian and Joanne McKeown, of Enfield, Roger and Sharon Parro, of Raleigh, NC, Louis and Noreen Bachetti, of Barrington, RI, and Kathleen McKeown and Ed Flisak, of Boston, MA. Elizabeth is also survived by her devoted grandchildren, Megan McKeown, Caitlin McKeown Salaverria, and husband, Andres, Kelsey McKeown Hopkins, and husband, Adam, Shannon McKeown, Heather Smith, Hallie Smith, Brad Smith, Kelleigh Nicholson, Terence Nicholson, Kevin McKeown, Sean McKeown, Audrey McKeown, Kara Murphy Brunk, and husband, Zachary, Ryan Murphy, Brady Parro, Jaret Parro, Bryce Parro, Kaleigh Parro, Jessica Bachetti, Leah Bachetti, Sarah Bachetti, and Louis (Owen) Bachetti, and her extended family, Bill and Fran Bowker and their children Angela and Joseph. Elizabeth also leaves several nieces and nephews, and precious friends whom she loved dearly. The family would like to extend special thanks for the loving assistance provided by Janet Twumasi and Nadia Treneva, and all the support of friends and family. Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Friday (Dec. 19, 2014) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday (Dec. 20, 2014) with the funeral procession forming at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home to St. Martha Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in her name may be made to St. Martha Church 214 Brainard Rd. Enfield, CT 06082.
