Ellena M. (Palazzini) Griffin, 86, beloved wife of 67 years to Maurice E. Griffin, entered into eternal rest, Thursday April 22, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT. She was born October 16, 1923 in Woonsocket, RI daughter of Ernesto Palazzini and Palma (Brunetti) Palazzini of Italy. Ellena spent her youth in Holyoke, MA, graduating from Holyoke High School. She moved to Enfield, CT where she resided for over 50 years where she worked and raised her children. Ellena had a generous and loving nature, always ready to lend a helping hand. She truly enjoyed other people’s life stories and learning their cultures. The last 15 years she enjoyed assisting as a receptionist at her daughter’s salon in Enfield, where she had the pleasure of meeting many cherished friends, but her greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind 2 sons and 3 daughters; Donald Griffin and wife Grace, Michael Griffin and wife Judy, Margaret Griffin and Patricia Schuiten all of Ellington, CT Maureen Griffin of Ellington and her companion Robert Mercier of Enfield, 7 grandchildren; Lisa Maldonado and husband Kenny, Cindy Potter and husband Dennis, Christopher Quinn and Wife Connie, Eric Griffin and wife Kim, Kathy Kujala and husband Keith, Donald Griffin, II and wife Kim, Jacob Schuiten and companion Loren. She also leaves 5 great grandchildren; Sean Edwards, Logan Potter, Nikolas Maldonado, Harley Griffin and Shianne Griffin and 3 siblings; Gloria Desmarais of Chicopee, MA, Norman and Margie Palazini of Woodstock, CT and Lenora and Carl Satcher of El Paso, TX, step granddaughter, Caitlin Plecity as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 8 siblings; Amelia Trottier of New Mexico, Yolanda Peters of Phoenix, AZ, Ernest Palazzini of Memphis, TN, Sylvio Palazzini, John Palazzini, Palma Palazzini, Emily Langevan, all of Holyoke, MA and Mamie Mohan of Chicopee, MA. Ellena’s family will receive family and friends (Monday) April 26, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT. A funeral procession will form (Tuesday) April 27, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels to St. Bernard Church for a 10:30 Mass of Christian Burial.
