Ervin C. Waskiel, 84, of Enfield, passed away peacefully on Friday July 3, 2009 in Enfield. Ervin was the beloved husband of Helen S. (Stadnicki) Waskiel. He was born on February 22, 1925 in Suffield, CT, the son of the late Charles and Michaelina (Kuczynski) Waskiel and had resided in Enfield for the past 50 years.
Ervin proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, 81st Tank Battalion B Company during WW II.
Prior to his retirement in 1988 Ervin was employed for 37 years with Kaman Aerospace.
He was an avid gardener, traveler, Red Sox and Patriots fan, enjoyed playing cards, cherished time spent with his family and was a parishioner of St. Martha's Church, Enfield.
Besides his loving wife, Helen of 58 years, Ervin is also survived by his beloved family; a daughter, Susan Howard and husband, Bruce of Chicopee, MA, a son, James Waskiel and wife, Henriette of Denmark, four grandchildren, Gabriella, Helena, Juliane and Tobias Waskiel, two step-grandchildren, Gregory & Geoffrey Howard. He also leaves his sister and brother-in-law, Alice & Frank Grabinski of Feeding Hills, MA. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son, Ervin C. Waskiel, Jr. and a brother, Edward Waskiel.
Funeral services in celebration of Ervin's life will be held on Tuesday July 7, 2009 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Martha's Church 214 Brainard Rd. Enfield, followed by interment with Military honors in St. Adalbert's Cemetery in Enfield. His family will receive relatives and friends prior to the Mass from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
