Eugene R. Benjamin, 62 of Enfield, entered into eternal life, unexpectedly on Monday (Jan. 5, 2015) at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Ctr., Hartford, CT. He was born on July 5, 1952 in Berlin, CT, the son of Jeannette (LaJoie) Benjamin and the late Leon E. Benjamin. Eugene was a graduate of Windsor Locks High School and received his associates from Asnuntuck Community College and had resided in Enfield for the past 23 years. He was presently employed with Ahlstrom , Inc. Windsor Locks having 42 years of service. Eugene was a member of the Freemasons with Composite Lodge No. 28, A.F.& A.M. and was a coach with the Enfield Ramblers Football. Had had a passion for gardening and loved his golf as well as his NASCAR racing. He worked on the Enfield 4th of July Celebration committee with his son Tim doing security. Eugene is survived by his loving children; Timothy Benjamin and Katelynn Benjamin both of Enfield, his mother Jeannette of Enfield, his siblings; Andrew Benjamin of Fresno, CA, Bruce Benjamin of Ludlow, MA and Linda Benjamin of Rocky Hill, CT, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Along with his father Leon Benjamin he was also predeceased by his twin brother Gary Benjamin. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Monday (Jan. 12, 2015) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. a Masonic Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (Jan. 13, 2015) with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. to St. Adalbert Church 90 Alden Ave. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Agawam Center Cemetery, Agawam, MA. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., Arthritis Foundation or Autism Awareness.
