Eugene Spencer Barrett, 78, of Enfield, passed away on Tuesday Oct. 6, 2009 at Hartford Hospital in Hartford. Eugene was the husband of Mary Q Barrett and son of the late George and Mae Barrett, he was born on November 25, 1930 in Hartford, CT and had resided in Enfield since 1959. Prior to retiring in 1985 he was employed with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for 34 years. Besides his wife, Mary of 52 years, Eugene is survived by his loving family; a daughter, Laura Lemay and her husband, Bob of Enfield, a son, Floyd Barrett of Enfield, and a daughter, Shirley Barrett-Ruzicka and her husband, Ron of North Haven, his four grandchildren; Kymberly Barrett, Steven Lemay, Matthew, Lemay and Gregory Lemay, his beloved cat "Elvis". He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Gauthier of North Haven, George M. Barrett, Jr. of Plainville, CT and Russell Barrett and his wife, Carole of West Hartford. Eugene was predeceased by a daughter, Dawna M. Barrett in 1998.
Relatives and friends may gather with the Barrett family on Friday Oct. 9, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. a Funeral Service will follow with the Rev. Kathy Farber officiating from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Burial will be private in Enfield Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Enfield Loaves & Fishes 28 Prospect St. P.O. Box 544 Enfield, CT 06083-0544.
