Eugene Mittica

Eugene “Gene” W. Mittica, 79, of Enfield, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully, December 1, 2013, after a brief illness, at his home with his loving family around him. Gene was the beloved husband of the late Palma M. (Mastrodonato) Mittica, the light of his life and soul mate who died July 30, 2013. Everyone who knew Gene knew that his family meant everything to him. Born April 25, 1934, in Hartford, CT, Gene was the son of the late Raphael and Olga (Companaro) Mittica. He was a veteran of the United States Army and prior to his retirement was a Truck Driver with Teamsters Union 671 for over 30 years. Gene enjoyed going to the Casino, spending time with his family and friends, especially Mike and Barbara Filosa. He also had many wonderful mornings with the crew at Dunkin Donuts on Hazard Avenue. Gene loved going with Palma to Figaro’s Restaurant in Enfield. He was an avid San Francisco 49 er, New York Yankee and UCONN Huskie fan. He enjoyed going to the shore every 4th of July and loved the firework shows. Gene is survived by his children; Rosemarie Spak of Burlington, CT and her husband Dan along with their children Jason Lomnicky and his wife Amy, and William Spak; John Mittica of Farmington, CT and his wife Teresa and their children John Mittica Jr. and Christopher Zalewski; James Perrone of Berlin and his wife Stacy, and their children Nicholas, Angelique, and Alexandria; Gina Benea of Windsor Locks, CT and her husband Lewis, and their children Daniella, Francesca, Antonio and Gabriella and her fiancé Brandon LeBlanc; and Jacquelyn Bosco of Enfield, CT and her husband Joey with their children Jacquelyn, Jamie Jo, Jessica and fiancé Ben Hebert, and great granddaughter Charlotte Hebert He is also survived by his step children and their families; Anthony Quattrocchi, Paula Quattrocchi and Palma Lavigne and many nieces and nephews that he adored. Gene was predeceased by his first wife Jacquelyn A. Maher and his brothers James and Peter Mittica. Gene’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Lisa Spencer, for the extraordinary care she gave him. Gene’s family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, December 4, 2013 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd., Enfield, CT. Family and friends will gather 9:00 a.m. Thursday Dec. 5, 2013 at Browne Memorial Chapels for a procession to Holy Family Church, Enfield, for an 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Committal with Military Honors will follow at St. Patrick King Street Cemetery. Memorial Donations in Gene’s memory may be made to Masonicare Partners, Home Health & Hospice, 111 Founders Plaza, Suite 200, East Hartford, CT 06108 or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
