Eugenia "Jean" Vella

Eugenia “Jean” M. Vella, of Enfield, entered into eternal life at the age of 95 on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012. She was born on Oct. 27, 1917 in the Thompsonville section of Enfield a daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Jackamore) Vella. Jean was educated in Enfield and was a lifelong resident. Prior to retiring in 1983 Jean was employed with Pratt & Whitney for 22 years, also at Kaman Aircraft and the former Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. She was a member of St. Patrick Church, the Commission on Aging, helped organize and was the 1st President of the Rinaldi-Roy Fede Post #17, Women’s Auxiliary and was very active with local &state veteran’s organizations for many years. Jean is survived by her loving sisters; Louise Desrocher of Enfield and Rose Shelanskas & husband Ray of Suffield, along with many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers; Alphonse Vella and Charles Vella and two sisters; Josephine Fede and Ann M. Aloisa. Relatives and friends may gather with her family on Wednesday (Dec. 26, 2012) from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Enfield. Interment will then take place in the Thompsonville Cemetery in Enfield. Memorial Donations in Jean’s memory may be made to The Enfield Food Shelf, P.O. Box 699, Enfield, CT 06083.
