Evelyn “Rae” (Benbow) Prostka, 70, of Enfield, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Croydon, England on June 26, 1941, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Raymond and Evelyn (Barnes) Benbow. She has been a longtime resident of Enfield and previously resided in Queens, New York. Rae was an avid Red Sox Fan, enjoyed drag racing and her adventures as a former scuba diver in Long Island. She and her husband, Ron enjoyed traveling and spending time at their home in Florida. In her leisure time, Rae enjoyed crosswords and playing scrabble. Rae is survived by her beloved husband of forty-seven years, Ronald Prostka; her daughter, Kimberly Prostka-Scavotto and her husband, John of Enfield; her grandson, Adam Scavotto of Enfield; her dear friends, Noree and Dick Porga; and Ralph Fiore; her sister Carol Wayne and her husband, David of Aloha, Oregon; and her nephew and two nieces. Rae’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 7, 2011 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. in celebration of her life at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
