F. Edward "Eddie" Sylvester Obituary

F. Edward “Eddie” Sylvester, of Enfield, entered peacefully into eternal life, at the age of 75, in the comfort of his home with loved ones at his side on Sunday (July 3, 2011). He was the beloved husband of 41 years to Margaret (Panek) Sylvester and son of the late Thomas and Ernestine (Cormier) Sylvester. He was born on June 26, 1936 in the Thompsonville section of Enfield and was a life long resident of Thompsonville. He served his country honorably with the U.S. Navy upon graduating from Enfield High School. Eddie retired from Hamilton Sundstrand after many years of service. He also spent weekends for 15 years helping his mother at Central St. Pizzaria in Thompsonville. He was a member of the Enfield Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. No. 2222 and was formerly a volunteer fireman with the Thompsonville Fire Department. A passion for gardening, Eddie looked forward to Spring each year to plant and care for his vegetable and flower gardens. He was also a model train enthusiast and enjoyed volunteering with community services especially helping in the kitchen. But, mostly he treasured spending time with his two grandsons whom were the pride and joy of his life. Besides his beloved wife, Margaret, Eddie is also survived by his two loving daughters; Denise Hodgert & her husband David of Lafayette, CO and Karen Sylvester of Enfield, his beloved grandsons; Garrett Edward Sylvester and Lucas David Hodgert, his mother-in-law Angela (Caronna) Panek, sisters-in-law Joanne Simpson of Enfield and Frances Boucher and her husband Chris of Ashford, CT, a niece Shelli Boucher and a nephew Michael Simpson, along with many cousins and friends. Relatives and friends may gather with Eddie’s family during calling hours on Wednesday (July 6, 2011) from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT. Funeral services will be held on Thursday (July 7, 2011) with the procession forming at 11:00 am to Holy Family Church 23 Simon Rd. Enfield for a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Eddie’s life at 12:00 pm (noon). Committal services will follow with military honors in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield. His family has requested donations for genetic colon cancer research & vaccination studies, in his memory be made to: P.H.U. C/O Robert E.
