Frank "Frankie D" D'Amato

Frank L. “Frankie D” D’Amato, 79, of Suffield, entered into eternal rest, on Monday Sept. 5, 2016 at Parkway Pavilion, Enfield. Frank was born on Aug. 12, 1937 in Enfield, CT, a son of the late Ferdinando and Clementina (Imparato) D’Amato, he grew up and was educated in Enfield. Frank then joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He had resided in Suffield for 30 yrs., in St. Petersburg, FL for 10 yrs. and in Enfield before that. Prior to his retirement in 1991 Frank was employed with Eastern Airlines for many years. He was a member of the AMVETS Post 18 Enfield, and enjoyed collecting miniature antique cars, watching horse races, and listening and singing to songs by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin and many others. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Geraldine A. (Bednarz) D’Amato, his beloved son Ferdinando “Fred” J. D’Amato of Boston, MA, his two sisters Rose Blickarz of Suffield and Carmie Smolinski of Ludlow, MA, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters. His family would especially like to thank the staff at Parkway Pavilion for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Frank. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield, a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Enfield. Interment will be private in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Parkway Pavilion Recreational Fund, 1157 Enfield Street Enfield, CT 06082.
