Frederick "Fred" Riley

Frederick “Fred” J. Riley, of Enfield, passed away at the age of 76 on Saturday (October 6, 2012) in East Windsor. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Marilyn (Miller) Riley. Frederick was born on May 26, 1936 in Enfield, CT the son of the late Frederick and Pauline (Butler) Riley and was a lifelong resident. He served his country honorably with the U.S. Army. An entrepreneur, Fred owned and operated his own businesses along with his wife, Marilyn for the past 55 years, having started Riley Rug Cleaning which existed for 20years and then in 1981 the family established Riley Souvenir Shops working up until his illness. Fred’s greatest enjoyment in life was spending time and traveling with Marilyn and his family. In addition to his loving wife Marilyn he is also survived by his beloved children; Marybeth (Riley) Wallis & her husband David of Westfield, MA, Michael Riley & his wife Pamela of Lake George, NY and Steven Riley & his wife Debbie of Somers, his 8 grandchildren which were his pride and joy; Tony Riley, Katie Emons, Ilyssa Riley, Michael Riley, Josette Riley, Madison Wallis, Anthony Sarraino and Jesse Sarraino and two great-grandchildren; Permelia Riley and Tyler Emons. He is also survived by a brother; Thomas Riley & his companion Lillian Piepul of Plant City, FL, a sister; Jean Sharon & her husband John of Enfield and a sister-in-law; Jean Dobosz of Somers, along with many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Wednesday (October 10, 2012) from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Thursday (October 11, 2012) with the funeral procession forming at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home to All Saints Church 25 School St. Somersville for a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Somers Center Cemetery in Somers. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association of CT 2080 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
