Gene J. Brown, 66 of Broad Brook and formerly of Enfield, died Wednesday July 2, 2008 at Hartford Hospital, Hartford. Gene was the beloved husband of 40 years to the late Maria L. (DeSantis) Brown (10/09/2007) He was born on May 29, 1942 son of Leonard and Matilda (LaPlante) Brown in Van Buren, ME where he was raised and attended school. He had resided in Enfield for 33 years and in Broad Brook for the past 3 years. Gene was employed for over 40 years as a Drywall Specialist in local area. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, was an avid gardener, he loved brook fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Gene is survived by his five children, Catherine L. Ouellette & husband, Gary of Enfield, James J. Brown & Danielle Bourque of NH, Lisa A. Brown-Ellis & husband, Michael, Sr. of Enfield, Thomas J. Brown & wife, Nelly of TX and Gina Secker & husband, David of E. Hartford, 11 beloved grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service in celebration of Gene's life will be held on Sunday July 6, 2008 at 4 p.m. from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. His family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 2 to 4 p.m.
Interment will be at the family's convenience. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
