George Jones

George W. Jones, 82, of Enfield beloved husband of 48 years to the late Emily S. (Salamon) Jones, entered into eternal rest on Saturday June 8, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. George was born on September 9, 1930 in Hartford, CT son of the late Arthur and Laura (DeCoste) Jones. He had resided in Enfield for the past 50 years. Prior to his retirement George was employed by the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections for 23 years and then with Aetna Insurance Co. for several years. In his leisure time he enjoyed listening to classical music, classic cars and working on projects around his home, but most of all he enjoyed time spent with family. George is survived by his beloved family; a son Gary E. Jones of Enfield, a daughter Linda J. Landusky & husband Martin of Windsor Locks and a daughter DiAnn M. Murray & husband Russell of Enfield, his seven grandchildren; Katherine, Matthew & Jeffrey Fawkner, Heather & Melissa Murray and Patrick & Matthew Landusky. He is also survived by a brother Frank Jones & wife Jean of East Hartford, CT, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Tuesday June 11, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services for George will be held on Wednesday June 12, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Flannery officiating at the funeral home. Committal services will follow in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery in Enfield.
