Harry A. Weatherwax, Sr. 83, of Enfield, passed peacefully from this life into eternal rest on Monday January 5, 2009 surrounded by loved ones at his home. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to the late Stella (Lengieza) Weatherwax (Dec. 12, 2003). Harry was born on April 23, 1925 in Huntington, MA, son of the late Clarence and Beatrice (Hall) Weatherwax. He had resided in Enfield for over 50 years. Harry served his country honorably with the US Army during WW II. Prior to his retirement Harry was employed by Della Construction Co., Enfield for many years. Harry was a lifetime member of the Tanguay Magill Post 80 American Legion, Enfield. He had a passion for gardening and canning, he was an avid bingo player, but mostly he enjoyed time spent with his loving family. A beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle Harry is survived by; a daughter, Patricia Cayer & husband, George of CA, a daughter, Barbara Carter & husband, Wayne of Enfield, a daughter, Alice Alzak & husband, Alfred of Enfield, a son, James Weatherwax of Melrose, a daughter, Joanne Violette & husband, Paul of Windsor Locks, a daughter, Ann Marie Carter & husband, Aaron of Enfield and a son, Harry A. Weatherwax, Jr. & wife, Tracy of Enfield, his 20 beloved grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his two sisters, Helen Lavalee of Springfield, MA and Jane Jerzyk of Turner Falls, MA and a brother, Bernard Weatherwax of OR along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his beloved wife, Stella he was predeceased by a son, Steven Weatherwax, two sisters, Joan Massa and Jean Robertson and three brothers, Clarence, Roy & John Weatherwax.
Funeral services for Harry will be held on Thursday January 8, 2009 at 11:00a.m. from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT followed by interment in the Hazardville Cemetery with military honors. Harry's family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service on Thursday from 9:00 – 11:00a.m. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association 2550 US Highway 1 N. Brunswick, NJ 08902-4301.
