Helen H. (Shlatz) Dobitsky, of Enfield, entered into eternal life at the age of 87 on Wednesday (October 10, 2012) surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of her home. Helen was the beloved wife of 53 years to George J. Dobitsky, Sr. and daughter of the late John and Katherine (Polinsky) Shlatz. She was born on May 27, 1925 in the Hazardville section of Enfield and had resided in Enfield most of her life and in Somers for 35 years. Prior to her retirement Helen assisted with the family businesses over the years at Liberty Laundromat & Cleaners in Enfield, Fresh Farms Mart in the Scitico section of Enfield and Town Crier Apartments in Agawam, MA. In her leisure time Helen enjoyed crafts, needlepoint, ceramics, sewing, cooking and gardening, she also had a passion for oil & water color painting. She was a former member of All Saints Church, Somers, a member of St. Bernard Church, Enfield and a 37 year member of the Catholic Daughters. Besides her beloved husband and caregiver, George she is also survived by her loving daughter and assistant caregiver; Nancy DeAlba of Ellington & son-in-law, John DeAlba of Ellington, her beloved sons; Gary Landry and his companion Fernandina Sinacore of Enfield and George Dobitsky, Jr. of Enfield, her 4 loving grandchildren who were the pride, joy and apples of her eye, Samantha Landry, Mark DeAlba, Michael DeAlba and Jenna Dobitsky and great-grandchildren Kelsey, Ryan and Brittny DeAlba, her sister, Mary Schultski of West Springfield, MA along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 1st husband Camille J. Landry, her five brothers, Myron, Elerry, Walter, Alex and Stephen Shlatz. Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Friday (October 12, 2012) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (October 13,) with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Bernard Church 426 Hazard Ave. Enfield for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donation in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy. Ste. 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
