Helene C. (Pagnoni) Halligan, died Monday (Feb. 10, 2014) at Baystate Medical Ctr. in Springfield, MA with her loving family at her side after a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was the widow of the late Henry M.J. Halligan, Jr. She was also predeceased by her longtime partner Armand Lescault. Helene was born on January 22, 1942 in Springfield, MA the daughter of the late Amedeo & Helena (Diggins) Pagnoni. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School class of 1959. She worked at Liberty Mutual where she met her husband and later retired from Phoenix Home Life Insurance Co. She enjoyed traveling, listening to Irish music and lunches with her special friends, but most of all she loved spending time with her cherished grandchildren. Helene was always there for anyone who needed her. She was a very outgoing person with a kind heart. To know her was to love her. She will be dearly missed and forever have a place in our hearts. Helene is survived by her children Michael Halligan & wife Beth, Nancy Hesse & Son-in-law Robert and Thomas Halligan & wife Kim, her cherished grandchildren Jon, Sara, Hannah, Ryan and McKenna. Her sister Ann Kaplan & husband Sam, nephew Eric Kaplan &wife Rina, their children Sam & Cameron and her niece Kristine Kaplan. Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Saturday (Feb. 15, 2014) from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, followed by a Memorial & Remembrance Service with Fr. John Melnick officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield, MA.
