Irene Libby

Irene B. (Jones) Libby, 80, of Enfield CT passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 28, 2008 at home with her loving husband and her precious Bichon Frises by her side. She was born on December 21, 1927 in Bristol, England. She immigrated to the United States at the age of 25. Irene was employed by the State of Connecticut, Department of Education for 18 years and retired in 1987. She was blessed with a caring husband of 34, years, who she shared her love of Bichons. They enjoyed breeding, raising, and showing their champion dogs of Valentine Bichons Kennel for over 20 years and meeting lots of interesting people who also loved animals. She also enjoyed numerous hobbies over the years and especially spending time on her computer. Irene was active in the Somersville Congregational Church and enjoyed her church family. In addition to her devoted husband, Joseph Robert Libby, Irene is survived by her daughter, Susan Lagrow and her companion, Wayne Longfellow of Bolton, CT; her daughter, Linda Torunski and her husband, Michael of Hinsdale, NH; and her son, David McNamara and his wife Debra of Fort McCoy, FL. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Doris Pulford and her husband, Donald; her step-daughter-in-law, Karen Libby; her step daughter, Karen Blondin and her wife, Renee; and her step-daughter, Darlene McFarlane and her wife, Sherry, all of Enfield. Irene also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, Graham Jones and Barbara Keating of Enfield; her step-mother, Francis Jones of East Windsor; and her especially loved cousin, Joan (Sis) Grainer and her husband, Les of Bristol, England. She will also be missed by her dearly loved 22 grand-children and 13 adored great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her mother and father, Rose Hannah and Charles Heber Jones and her step-son, Ronald Eugene Libby. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Somersville Congregational Church, Somersville, CT at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Somersville Congregational Church or a charity of the donor's choice. Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd.
