Irene Provencher Obituary

Irene M. (Bocwinski) Provencher, 78, of Enfield, beloved wife of Kenneth E. Provencher, entered into eternal life on Saturday February 7, 2009 surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. She was born on August 18, 1930 in Pittston, PA the daughter of the late Leo C. and Barbara (Barnack) Bocwinski and had resided in Enfield for the past 70 years. Irene was a graduate of Enfield High School Class of 1948 and was the Class Secretary and Historian. Prior to her retirement Irene pursued a career in Bookkeeping having been employed for many years at the Dunne's Motel and then 20 years with the Ramada Inn. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother much of her time revolved around her family and she loved the trips to the Amish Country and Cape Cod, MA with her family. She was an excellent seamstress and an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching the many cooking shows on TV.
Besides her loving husband of 59 years Ken, she is survived by a daughter, Barbara Franklin and her husband, Michael of Enfield, a son, Richard Provencher and his wife, Lisa of Fort Ann, NY, a daughter Suzanne Noble and her husband, George of Enfield, a daughter in law, Wendy Provencher of Enfield, her ten beloved grandchildren, Michael Franklin Jr. and his wife, Vicki, Shawn Franklin and his wife, Faith, Jaimie Provencher and her husband, John Polanski, Shannon, Michele, Matt, Stacie, Kelsey, Christopher, and Nicholas also two great-grandchildren, Alex & Joshua. Irene also leaves her two sisters, Bernice Buvarsky of Enfield and Joan DeRonch of Belchertown, MA, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Irene was predeceased by a son, Kenneth M. Provencher and a brother Leo A. Bocwinski. Her family would like to especially thank the Home & Community Healthcare Hospice Program and the Visiting Nurses Assoc. for all their help & support, along with Dr. Timothy Figner for his home care. Funeral service in celebration of Irene's life will be held on Wednesday February 11, 2009 with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. to St. Adalbert's Church for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial followed by interment in St. Adalbert's Cemetery. Irene's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday February 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
