Irma Tracy Obituary

Irma L.(Masse) Tracy, 67, of Enfield, beloved wife of 47 years of Gordon Tracy passed away on Friday June 17, 2005. She was born in Port Henry, NY, the daughter of August and Eleanor (Giero) Masse. The family moved to Hartford in 1939. She graduated from Hartford's Holy Trinity High School in 1956 and married Gordie on June 7, 1958. They made their home in Enfield for 43 years, raising two sons. Irma worked for Aetna Life & Casualty for 35 years, retiring in 1996. She was active in the Aetna's Women's Club and was a United Way representative for many years.
Irma was a passionate golfer, she made a hole-in-one at the Edgewood Golf Course in Southwick, MA, in August 2000. She was a member of the Grassmere Women's Golf League. She was also a member of the Senior Mixed Bowling League at Silver Lanes and past President of the Aetna Bowling League.
Irma leaves behind her husband, Gordon, her son Stephen Tracy of Chesapeake, VA her son Jeffery, his wife Donna and their daughter Alexandra of Andover, CT, her sister Eleanor (Masse) Coulter and her husband Al of Enfield, their sons, Mark Coulter of Broad Brook and Andrew Coulter of Whitefish, MT and a very special niece, Rachel Coulter. She is also survived by the families of Gordon's sisters, Norma Keans of Walpole, NH, and Phyllis and Gerald Aronson of East Granby, CT.
Irma will always be remembered for her indomitable spirit, kindness and sense of humor. She lived every day to its fullest and inspired all those who knew her.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and staff at the St. Francis/Mount Sinai Regional Cancer Center and floor 8-1 of St. Francis Hospital. The compassionate care and kindness that you have afforded during this difficult time was appreciated more than you will ever know. God Bless you all.
Funeral services in celebration of Irma's life will be held 9:00 am, Monday June 20, at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Holy Family Church, Enfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Patrick's King St. Cemetery, Enfield. Irma's family will receive relatives and friends Sunday June 19, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Women's Auxiliary of St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, The Butterfly Boutique Rainbow Fund, 114 Woodland St. Hartford, CT 06105. These donations will enable the Auxiliary to provide a variety of comfort products to cancer patients who could not otherwise afford them.
